Ask Anything in MY NAME Sharon Masters Before Yahshua went to be with the Father, He taught his disciples that up until this time they had asked nothing in His name: John 16:23-27 “And in that day (resurrection day) ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My Name HE (the Father) will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My Name: ask, and yet shall receive, that your joy may be full. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in MY NAME: and I say not unto you that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father Himself loveth you, because ye have loved Me, and have believed that I came out from Him.” Yahshua is our High Priest, but we are now also priests and we no longer need to have Yahshua go to Yahweh on our behalf, we can go directly to Yahweh because Yahshua took us there Himself., and in doing so covered us with His own blood so that Yahweh looks on us and sees His first born, begotten son. Yahshua went directly to the Father for everything while He was on this earth. He did nothing on His own. The power Yahshua received to do what He did came directly from YAHWEH. We are now able (because of our belief that Yahshua came from the Father) to also go directly to the Father and ask anything in His (Yahshua’s) Name. However, when Yahshua went to be with the Father, He received a new NAME: Rev. 3:12 “He that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my Eloah and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my Eloah and the name of the city of my Eloah, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my Eloah: and I will write upon him MY NEW NAME.” Yahshua’s new name was now YAHWEH! He earned His name by his total obedience to His Father, YAHWEH. HE AND THE FATHER ARE ONE – they now share the same family Name – YAHWEH. Thus, when we are asking in the Name of Yahshua, we should ask in His NEW Name – YAHWEH. This Name has always been the source of the power (Exodus 9:16, Hebrews 1:3-4) and it is now given to us after His resurrection (John 1:12) that we may continue to do His works and even greater things because He has gone to the Father. John 14:12-15 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also and GREATER works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in My Name, that will I do that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye ask anything in My (new) Name (Yahweh) I will do it.” ONENESS WITH THE FATHER If ye love Me, keep My Commandments, John 14:15 This is an interesting command – did not the Commandments come from YAHWEH? This gives a greater understanding of how Yahshua and the Father are ONE - And how we can also become one with them. They are of the same family (See “Ask Anything in My Name”) Yahweh, and they are also ONE with the Set-Apart Spirit. John 14:23 ……”If a man love Me, he will Keep my words (obey): and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him and make Our abode with him.” John 14:16-17 “And I will pray to the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He (the Father) may abide with you forever: The Spirit of TRUTH, which the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him, but you know him for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you”. ……….(the Set-Apart Spirit- the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth - is really the MIND of YAHWEH…Ephesians 4:23.) John 14:18 “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Set-Apart Spirit, whom the Father will send IN MY NAME, shall teach you all things.” John 14:19-21 “Yet a little while, and the world seeth Me no more; but ye shall see Me; because I live, ye shall live also. At that day (resurrection day), ye shall know that I AM in My Father, and ye in Me and I in you. He that hath MY Commandments, and keepth them he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him.” WHAT’S IN A NAME? Names have always been important and none more than the names in the Bible. In the Bible, names are used to tell us who people are – they were often a job description. It is still somewhat the same today ie. Carpenter, Taylor, etc. YAHWEH chose a name for Himself that would tell everyone who He was/is. He chose the Hebrew people as a people for Himself and therefore, chose the Hebrew verb “to be”, for His name, YAHWEH, the meaning of which is: I WAS, I AM, I WILL ALWAYS BE (I will prevail). The Hebrew speaking Israelites understood about the great “I AM”. Exodus 3:14-15 …..Thus shat thou say unto the children of Israel, I WILL BE hath sent me unto you. And Elohim said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, Yahweh, the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac and the Elohim of Jacob has sent me unto you: this is MY NAME FOREVER, and this is MY Memorial unto ALL generations. This name is the name He chose for Himself and we have NO right to change it or to call Him by any other name or title of any pagan deity such as God, Lord (Baal) etc. Yahweh’s people were always following after other deities and the old testament is full of Yahweh’s message carried by the prophets to come back and worship Him, Yahweh, the true Creator. This message fell on deaf ears and because of that – Yahweh chose to send His message of reconciliation by way of His Son. But how were they to know that this messenger was really from Him? Yahweh tried to get his message out through Isaiah when he foretold the coming of Yahweh’s salvation: Isaiah 9: 6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonder Counselor of the Mighty Yahweh, of the Father of Eternity; the Prince of Peace.” When Yahshua was born Matthew 1:21 states….”and she shall bring forth a Son and thou shalt call His name Yahshua: for He shall save His people from their sins. Now all this was done in fulfillment of that which was spoken of Yahweh by the prophet saying “Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a Son and shall call His Name Immanu-El (Yahweh is with Us). So you see that The Messiah/Savior came in the Father’s Name, so there would be no denying that Yahweh did indeed send Him. As always, the people were rebellious and did not want to hear this. Yahshua’s name and His very presence exposed their sins. And they killed Him because of His Name. John 5:39-44 “Ye search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me. But ye will not come to Me that ye might have life. I receive not honour from men. But I know you, that ye have not the love of Yahweh in You. I am come in My Father’s Name and ye receive Me not. Let another come in his own name (Zeus = Jesus) him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another and seek not the honour that cometh from Yahweh only?” (This is also an end-time prophesy concerning His second coming. True believers will know Him because they know His name, and His Name tells them He came from YAHWEH. The Anti-Messiah will come in the name of Jesus and deceive many….Matt. 24:24) UNITY and ONENESS ARE FOUND IN THE NAME Yahshua was sent from Yahweh, as witnessed by the meaning of His NAME (Yahweh is Salvation). He was not sent just to show us the Father, but to lead us back to Him. If we want to really come to know Yahweh so that we can call upon His Name to be saved, (Acts 2:21, Joel 2:32) we must follow Yahshua’s lead. John 10:1-2 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.” John 10:11 “I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd and the shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” John 10:3-5 ….”the sheep hear his voice and he calleth his own sheep by NAME and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them and the sheep follow him for they KNOW his voice. A stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him, for they know no the voice of strangers.” John 13:19-20 “Now I tell you before it come that when it is come to pass ye may believe that I AM He. Verily, verily I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth Me and he that receiveth Me receiveth Him that sent Me.” When we follow all the way – the end of our journey will be at the throne and in the presence of YAHWEH Himself. We will also be One with Him. We will also share the Family Name of YAHWEH. It was the prayer of Yahshua before his crucifixion that His true disciples be ONE with Him and the Father, sharing with them eternal life and the Family NAME, YAHWEH, that He was sent to proclaim and glorify. John 17: 1-3 …….”Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee: As Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as THOU has given Him. And this is life eternal, that they might know that, THOU only art the TRUE El and Yahshua the Messiah, Who Thou has sent.” John 17:12 “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in THY NAME: those that Thou gavest Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; in fulfillment of the Scripture.” John 17:11 “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world and I come to Thee, Holy Father, take and keep thorough THINE OWN NAME, those whom Thou hast given Me, that THEY MAY BE ONE, AS WE ARE.” John 17:23: “I in them and Thou in Me that they may be made perfect in UNITY And that the world may know that Thou hast sent Me and hast loved them and Thou hast loved me.” John 17:26 “And I have declared unto them THY NAME, and will declare it, that the love wherewith Thou hast love me may be in them, and I in them.” Perhaps now we understand (for the first time) the importance of the True Name, the identity of the Named, and how we too might find unity as a covenant people – IN HIS NAME YAHWEH.
