Ask the Man Who Owns One: VBwineclassic On Saturday, 12 April, 2014, the Military Aviation Museum will celebrate the inseparable link between motoring and aviation, and the artisanship of Virginia winemaking. At the beginning of WWII the Packard Motor Car Company was awarded an order then worth $130,000,000.00 to manufacture engines for Rolls-Royce. Chosen because of its high standard of engineering, an agreement was reached in September of 1940, and the first Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine was run in August of 1941.
