Assault – Public Assistance Sought – Darwin City Serious Crime Detectives have released a description of a man, believed to have been involved in the assault of a 68-year-old man in Darwin City early this morning. Detective Senior Constable First Class Belinda Sanderson said it is alleged the victim was walking along Mitchell Street, in the vicinity of Peel Street and Shadforth Lane, when he was approached by an unknown male at around 2am. “An altercation took place between the two men and the 68-year-old man was struck and fell to the ground. The other man left the scene and was witnessed heading towards the taxi rank on the corner of Mitchel Street and Peel Street. “He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 20’s, approximately 180cm tall, muscular build, with dark hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a pattern in the centre. We are appealing for this male to contact police urgently to assist us with our enquiries. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Royal Darwin Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.” Police urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone with information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
