Astonishing !!!....I have been asked by some runners of a local running club, which will remain nameless to save embarrassment, to take some training sessions on the running track and chat to those training about various sessions etc....I said I would love to...the lads said the club would ring me to sort the dates out...when the phone call came I was truly amazed !!!...it was an Official from the Club who proceeded to ask me if I had a Coaching badge ???...I replied I dont, but I think I have the relevant experience to take a training session with the any athletes of any ability !!!...the official then said a coaching badge was a must..I again replied I had taken sessions before with numerous running groups, badge or no badge, which had been a great success in both teaching the athletes and in passing on my running experiences to them...the club official then came out with a classic, this is his exact quote I know you have won 2 World titles with England but that does not mean you know how to coach and train club runners ....there was no answer to that really but I just replied , I self coached myself to my two World titles so obviously, no I cant coach !!!! .....deathly silence then the Club Official said he would get back to me...still waiting !!!.......some people really do amaze me !!!! x
