At 2:13 am Dominion Power lost a phase of their transmission line that originates in Williamston, NC and serves Tideland EMCs Five Points, Washington, Pantego, Ponzer, Mattamuskeet, Sidney and Engelhard substations. This resulted in part power in many areas. If you have a part power situation you need to cut your main breaker off to avoid damaging appliances. However, all areas should be without power now while Dominion makes repairs. It is critical for Tideland members to practice emergency conservation. If the load is too high when Dominion re-energizes the transmission line we will not be able to immediately restore power. Instead we would have to restore power section by section. So this is why we ask that you cut off all but one breaker for lights until power is restored. Then only cut on essential breakers one at time in fifteen minute increments until fully restored.
