At 7:00 AM Monday, 8/11/2014, the National Weather Service (NWS) Tropical Prediction Center (TPC) and National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a Tropical Weather Outlooks for the Atlantic Basin: AREA OF INTEREST #1 / INVEST #94L Shower activity has changed little in association with a broad area of low pressure located a couple hundred miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. Some gradual development of this system is still possible. It is expected that the system will encounter a more conducive environment over the next few days while it continues its move westward at about 15 mph. Formation chance through 48 hours – LOW (now, near 0 percent) Formation chance through 5 days – MEDIUM (now, 30 percent) Model storm tracks for Invest 94L/Storm 94 show the system continuing to the west and few then have it entering the Caribbean Sea while others have it continuing in a west-northwesterly direction similar to Hurricane Bertha. Mid and long-term track uncertainty remains high at this point, so we will need to continue to monitor this system over the next five days.
