At its zenith,his empire was larger than anything than the Ahoms ever achieved.....covering the entire Brahmaputra and Barak valleys,present day Bangladesh,Bengal,parts of Orissa ,touching Bhutan and Myanmar......he was a benevolent ruler, a great warrior,upholder of justice and a staunch believer in the principles of Raj Dharma for the benefit of his subjects......Kumar Bhaskarvarman ruled from 600 to 650 AD,a contemporary of the great Harshavardhana of Thaneswar .....the two kings developed a strategic alliance,which proved mutually beneficial for both kingdoms,the influence of this alliance stretching well beyond the borders of both the nations.....Kumar Bhaskarvarman was a Hindu by religion but retained a secular outlook...his court was adorned by learned men of all religious sects ,including Buddhism ....he made regular contributions for the upkeep of the Nalanda University ....the king himself was an erudite scholar and enjoyed the company of learned men....Huien-Tsang,the famed Chinese traveller visited his court and has left behind glowing accounts of his kingship...... Kumar Bhaskarvarman never married and passed away without any heir.....his demise marked the end of the era of the great Varman rulers in the history of Kamarupa(4th century AD to 7th century AD).....
