At the RIC National Convention in Nasugbu, Batangas, Senator Cynthia A. Villar, talked about “Agri-tourism as an Agribusiness Venture for Rural Women”. The RIC members, officers, ATI focal persons and Center Directors, DA RFO Staff and other rural-based organization officers nationwide were in attendance, together with Congresswoman Lilia Nunio of the 2nd District of Zamboanga City and National President of the RIC at the Chateau Royale, Nasugbu, Batangas on November 28, 2014. The Rural improvement Clubs are one of the active frontliners in community development. RICs promotion of rural development started when former Vice President Fernando Lopez was appointed secretary of the Department of Agriculture in 1953 and when the Bureau of Agricultural Extension was established. Its objectives include: · To uplift the living condition of rural women; · To gain self-confidence and skills which are essential to self-reliance; · To gain experience in a simple livelihood operations.
