At the market place having an interesting, if not robust conversation regarding community feelings - it started out with one table and ended with 3 tables of people joining in! The conversation began about rates, managers living outside the region, consultants, tourism, jobs, and development encroaching on our valuable agricultural land, all issues close to my heart, all issues that the community want to talk about. I might ad, I had never met these people before. What do you love about the Bridge? A very simple question following this very intense conversation. I keep saying I am passionate about this region, I am passionate and focused on my policies in regard to growth, tourism and change........but what do I LOVE about the Bridge? The question actually set me back, such a simple, genuine question. Once I had a few seconds to think about it the answer was as easy as the question was simple - PEOPLE - there is a heart and soul in this region - go into any business in this town and look on their walls, notice boards etc. and you will see many certificates of thanks from sporting groups, community gatherings, kindergartens etc. I have approached many businesses for sponsorship for all sorts of gatherings and functions, to date, I have never been refused! We have a region whos potential for growth is boundless, we have a region with a huge heart - One of the CFS brigades has a motto - Neighbours helping Neighbours (I have found a lot of that in this town, this region) - lets be proud, step out of our oppression, and lets vote, make the change and prepare for growth. Lets get excited about our future. Lets get our kids excited about their future. Lets change the wheels that are clogged with negativity, lets just move on and build our future.
