At this point in my life I would rather be a daddy than a business - TopicsExpress

At this point in my life I would rather be a daddy than a business man. This is how I will start the longest post I have ever written so please bear with me. I have been a booming business for 4 years now and the last 2 I have been the number one service facility in Iowa County. Business is good and there is always a wait to get in to the shop. There also lies a problem. I started the business and we found out my wife was pregnant about 2 or 3 months after getting ready to open. I never had any idea the shop would take off at the rate it did. Now, I want to clarify, I am not complaining about this. I was fully aware that I would have to invest a lot of time, energy and effort into being a business owner. I love each and every customer and interaction (it is always different and a challenge at times) and all of the friends I have made and the help I have given. I work between 70 and 100 hours a week, going in after bed time and working till 2...3...4 in the morning is killing me. I get home, make diner and put the kids to bed and that is about the extent of the time I get with them during the week. Being a business owner has been one of the best experiences I have ever had but third to being a husband and a dad. and that being said those things are more important to me and deserve the most of me. That being said I will now get to the point. There has been a lot of rumors going around as of late as to what is happening here in the shop. Top Dog Automotive is closing. I am combining with Kalona Tire and we will now be called Williamsburg Tire. Top Dog will close December 19th (ironically I realized last night that that is my 34th birthday) to start moving and will reopen in the new location January 5th. I will still be here to help my friends and customers the same as before but this will allow for things to work much better and smoother. I will have help answering phones and scheduling, I will have help in the shop, I will have a greatly expanded inventory and much more room and equipment in the shop. This will be to everyones benefit, hopefully no more 3 week waits to get in and not as long to wait to order tires and parts. So, I hope every one will stick with me for this new change and see how things go and I hope to see, talk to, and help each and every one of you with the care and compassion I always have. Big changes are coming, Im excited and we will just see how it goes for the new year!
