At times of spreading diseases in UNRWA schools during the 51-day - TopicsExpress

At times of spreading diseases in UNRWA schools during the 51-day war on Gaza due to the lack of water and large number of Palestinians sheltered in small buildings, families around these schools tried their best to help and support them. I live nearby to one of UN schools to which people near the border evacuated their houses and sheltered there. Having visited this school regularly, mostly every day, I felt the hardships of these families trying just to live day by day. There was no enough food to feed families - one meal each day is what they got. There was no enough water to drink, wash, or shower. The shortage of both food and water caused the spread of diseases, some of these diseases are sustainable. Yet, most of what families suffered for 51 days is dermatologist (skin diseases.) The lack of food also caused deficiency in the immune to many kids; that made them vulnerable to get sick to any kind of diseases. Among these issues happened in UNRWA schools during the 51-day Israeli attacks on Gaza, is the absence of privacy. ( If anyone can imagine 15 members sleeping in one classroom) Regardless to all what happened and what they suffered, they never gave up nor did people near these schools. Many families gave visits to the school in my town, Central Gaza, to support whose their houses were destroyed and sent their heartfelt condolences to every family who lost their beloved relatives during the war. Many other families tried to help them standing on their feet again. It was a harmony that none would never feel in normal days - everyone cared about each other. Having a well in our lands, I figured out way to help bringing water directly to the school 24/7. It wasnt much as I did nothing but turning on the button wherever they ask for it, yet it helped all people wash their stuff, and shower any time. Reported by: Mircea Barbu
