Atletico Madrid player is willing to accept Liverpool - TopicsExpress

Atletico Madrid player is willing to accept Liverpool offer. Spanish newspaper AS report on Friday on the future of Toby Alderweireld. The Belgium international moved from Ajax to Atletico Madrid last summer with great fanfare but has failed to live up to the hype because he cant get into the Spanish champions team often enough. One of those standing in the way of Toby Alderweireld at centre back is Miranda. AS explain how Manchester United want to sign Miranda and how the Brazilians future is linked to that of his Belgian colleague. Atletico are pushing Manchester United to pay Mirandas buyout clause of €30m, but the Premier League club think thats too much and are probably correct. If Miranda goes then it gives an opportunity for Alderweireld in the centre of defence and Atletico would then keep the player, but that depends on someone paying Mirandas clause, say AS, which seems unlikely. Miranda remaining would likely see an Alderweireld exit and he has an offer from Liverpool which the newspaper say he is willing to accept that so he can have a fresh start elsewhere. Italian side Napoli are also interested in the defender, who is currently at the World Cup in Brazil. This could be one which drags out over the summer, especially if Manchester United are working to get the price of Miranda down. Alderweireld is 25 years old and can also play at right back which would give Brendan Rodgers squad some quality and depth. Hes got a contract until 2017 with Atletico and the Spanish side would no doubt like an auction situation to develop between Liverpool and Napoli, should they decide to sell.
