Atomium is a monument of Brussels, in Belgium, builds on the occasion of the World Fair of 1958 and representing the conventional stitch of the iron crystal (cubic phase centered) enlarged 165 billion times. Atomium was imagined by the engineer André Waterkeyn and set up by the architects André and Jean Polak for the World Fair of 1958 in Brussels. It is a building halfway between the sculpture and the architecture that peaks in 102 m. Its structural steel weighs 2 400 tons. It became, in the same way as Manneken Pis and Grand Place, a symbol of the capital of Belgium.
