As the third anniversary of that horrific loss approaches, let’s move back to Rockford, Iowa, where this all began and pay tribute once again to Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson, the man this page honors. If you would care to join us, please take a moment to change your hometown to his and feel free to share this with any who might appreciate it. Each month we have changed our hometown to that of one of the 31 fallen from Extortion 17, the Chinook shot down on 8/6/11 in Afghanistan. We called it Heros Hometown and it was our way to honor and pay respects to those who were with Jon on that fateful day. Our hope was to raise awareness through your family and friends who might ask why your hometown had changed . . . I think we have done that. These warriors stories will be shared and shared again.
