**** Attention Winter Warrior Friends*** If you have any photos of you wearing a Winter Warriors hoody please share it in the comment section. Ill try and get things started with a couple of my favorites... As most people know Im not a big fan of giving out t-shirts at running events. I usually view them to be wasteful and unnecessary as someone who lives an active lifestyle of participating in endurance event frequently will have piles of them never to be used. I know some people love them but personally I have 3 boxes full that are waiting to be cut up and put onto a quilt. 1 quilt of cotton shirts and one of tech shirts... both of which I can say would be of around a $200+ value lol ;) Although they are a nice walking advertisement when people wear them around I feel like more races could get creative and distribute something that is typically related to the races theme. I only have one race concept that I was giving shirts out at and that was the winter warriors series. I made the artwork a unique visual that followed the race theme and first started out by using up a screen printing companies left over miscellaneous shirts that were left over from old jobs (the shirts would come in as red, pink, green ect.). But after a while I was tired of making the orders days ahead sometimes only to be left with a bunch of extra shirts after the race or running out which was even worse. So eventually I made up my own screen printing press and started making them on my own around August of last year. This allowed me to make up a majority of the shirts prior to the race and then before the race finish them off with an accurate number. Once I had a hang of it I decided to start giving out hooded sweatshirt for the winter warrior races. It cost about 2x the price as a t-shirt but there were multiple benefits to giving them out over top of a t-shirt that made it worth the extra price. In that time Ive found a great new joy anytime I see someone wearing one of them in public or online through FB. I even created a FB folder Warrior Sightings so that anytime I see a picture posted of someone wearing one I save it to the folder. Call it creepy but Id like to put together a video to display on race day this year for each of the races titled Winter Warriors off the record or Winter Warriors in the off season or something like that. If you have any ideas for a better thing to call the video please share that also. Your race director, Ryan Hackett
