Job Title: Coordinator, Youth Assessment Network Initiative Organization: Rhode Island for Community & Justice Location: 80 Washington Street, Rm. 436, Providence, RI 02903 Start Date: September 2013 Part Time: quarter to half time Temporary: est. six months Job Description ------------------------------------------- Position Opening Coordinator, Youth Assessment Network Initiative Rhode Island for Community & Justice (RICJ) seeks a Coordinator for the Youth Assessment Network Initiative of our juvenile justice project. This is a grant-funded, temporary, part time position of about 10 to 20 hours per week, for an estimated total of 500 hours over a six to ten month period. The Youth Assessment Initiative is envisioned as a new network to promote comprehensive assessment and needed services for minority juveniles at high risk of entering the justice system. The Coordinator is responsible for strategic planning, data gathering, coalition building, outreach and advocacy to begin this initiative with the goal of decreasing recidivism and diverting juveniles from the system. The Coordinator will build and coordinate a diverse Coalition for the project, recruiting participants, conducting planning sessions, researching and disseminating information about best practices and models for youth assessment networks, seeking funding to develop and pilot an assessment network, conducting outreach to educate professionals and community and planning for evaluation. The Coordinator will report to RICJ’s Juvenile Justice Coordinator (Social Services) with additional guidance by the Executive Director. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to social justice, knowledgeable about juveniles at risk, with experience coordinating and managing programs and people, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, research skills, ability to work in diverse settings, highly organized with ability to multitask, and computer proficiency. 2 years of experience in program management or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
