Aug. 28 And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the Glory - TopicsExpress

Aug. 28 And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the Glory of God illuminates the city and the Lamb is its light. This is part of Johns description of Heaven from the vision he had received that is recorded in Revelation 21. This summer I read the book, Heaven is for Real which is a true story of one little four-year-old boys visit to Heaven when he was extremely ill and having to have emergency surgery. He was able to describe to his parents how everything was so much more colorful and bright, how he talked to the younger version of his great-grandfather whom he had never met, and how an older little girl hugged him and would not let him go, who he learned was a sister who had died even before she was born. But I was so captivated by his certainty of what Jesus looked like and how intimate and personal his experience in Heaven had been sitting in Jesus lap and being reassured that there was no need to fear. Later I went to see the movie, which was also very good. I have always believed in a literal Heaven, so this book and movie did not have to convince me of that. What I came away with is just the reassurance that Heaven is, in fact, a happy place, a place where I will know others and they will know me, and, most importantly, a place where I can see Jesus face to face and He calls me by name. What comfort this brings as we hang on to lingering grief, and we await our turn to go to our permanent Home! In Jesus Calling for today, it describes our temporary time on earth. As we have an intimate relationship with Christ, we get a glimpse of Heaven where ...all barriers between you and My Glory will be removed...You experience My Presence here and now, and you are refreshed by the hope of Heaven, where you will know me in ecstatic joy. May our Hope be refreshed today!
