Auggie refused to wear his tuxedo today when we went for our - TopicsExpress

Auggie refused to wear his tuxedo today when we went for our visit, so I made him wear party beads around his front legs. Right now while just trying to write this first sentence of my story, I had to stop and ask Gregg what the area would be called where Auggie wore his beads. Bless his heart he puts up with my Penny-ism! I was resisting calling them his front legs because I would think they would be his arms because they are in the front. I wanted to say his wrist but then Gregg said to say paws. Now do I have everyone confused??? See what Gregg has to deal with, LOL....oh to live in my head you cant imagine! :) Okay, now where was I? Yes, back to Auggies outfit....his blinking Happy New Year headband was a hit and brought a lot of smiles today. Many of our friends were surprised to see us on New Years Day but we honestly couldnt think of a better way to start 2015! Being a creature of habit, Auggie was a little off his game today. They moved many of our friends to different rooms and threw Auggie off his whole routine. Miss G said she moved three times yesterday. She is really happy to still be by the window but said her family kept coming up there and moving her bird feeder from window to window. Not only are they changing rooms here, they are having some people have different roommates. Change is hard on all of us, but Im sure things will settle down once they all get used to their new room. Just imagine for our friends, this is their home. I know how stressed out I get when I have moved, its the same for them even if its just a room. The window is different, their bulletin board is in a different spot, its just different. Auggie and I spent a lot of time today trying to reassure our friends that everything would be okay. Miss G always reminds me to look on the bright side. No matter what is going on, she finds a silver lining in it somewhere. I just love that about her! We spent time visiting our lady friend and her daughter who is always there visiting when Auggie and I go. My boy and his super nose noticed the Panera Bread take out bags right away that were sitting on the bed. They mentioned her Niece had brought her treats but she said she gets too many treats, that her dresser drawers cant hold all the goodies she gets from her family. We met many people in the hallway..Mr B always yells out BIG WHITE DOG HERE, BIG WHITE DOG HERE and he wheels up and down the hallway. He makes me giggle because he is so happy to see Auggie and lets everyone know we are there. I know with all the changes that I missed a few of our regular visits because all the name plates arent up in the hallway yet. We brought Miss M a couple sewing kits with some plastic needles. She really doesnt seem to be happy about her new room but I was telling her that once spring gets here that outside her window which is on the other side of the hallway is the garden area. She will be able to watch all the animals and flowers out there. Her blinds were closed so I will have to check out what her view is for sure next week. I might just have to get a hanging plant for outside her window if she is too far down to see the actual garden. The great thing is with Miss M, we are actually starting to have real conversations. I remember as Miss E and I were developing our friendship, it took her a while to really consider me a friend and talk. I think they realize that I keep coming back so they give in and figure they might as well start talking, LOL! She told me about talking with her daughter on the phone and telling her that Auggie had given her a Christmas present. She told me a dog has never gotten her a present! When I went to take her picture tonight with Auggie, she told me to move him closer because she couldnt reach him. This coming from someone that was so afraid of dogs when we first met her. She just sticks her hands right in his fur and starts petting Auggie now with no hesitation. We stopped on the way out to visit Miss R. She was happy to see us and also really happy she kept her same room. She said it was like musical chairs with all the activity the last couple of days. We talked to many of our friends about New Years Eve and if they stayed awake to ring in the New Year. I think most of us agreed that New Years Eve just isnt the same without Dick Clark and everyone I talked to had no idea who the bands/singers were. That is another great conversation topic we have with our friends is music and dance. I just love hearing their stories of times past and how much things have changed. I think many of our friends saw the ball drop in Time Square the way I did and that was on the morning news. On the way out tonight, Auggies beads started slipping off and he started walking like a cat with scotch tape on his pads. He never ceases to make me laugh when I need it and as I sit down in the seat of my van, he jumps up on the passenger seat and starts giving me kisses, letting me know that this is a start of a fresh new year and he made up for me missing my midnight kiss to him. I sure do love this boy and looking forward to a magical 2015!
