Ok, so a few events recently have spawned this post. However, I have been seeing and hearing this kinda stuff for a long time. Overheard on the radio a lady talk show host ripping a pastor in Charlotte for building a large house. Recently a conference was held that basically judged the majority of the protestant faith as being in error and in danger of hell. So many in the church seem more concerned about pursuing perceived error and policing the church than about truly pursuing Gods Kingdom and its mandate. Where in the Great Commission did Jesus say go after the wolves and false prophets? Seems like most heresy hunters do more harm than good. And be careful, most are full of pride. Jesus was considered a heretic in His day. Luther and many reformers, the apostles, etc. We should heed Gamileils counsel or we too may find ourselves fighting against God. Even Paul wrote that there were some preaching Christ only hoping to bring more harm to Paul; never the less, he rejoiced as Christ was being preached. Im not saying we are not to defend truth. There is absolute truth. However, we defend it...not go on the offensive for it. So sick of the criticism and hatred of each other we see in the church. Time to quit trying to remove our brothers speck without first dealing with our log.
