The past few days I have shed a lot of tears, spoken a lot of prayers and done a lot of thinking. All of this caused by the death of a 21 year old that I had only spent 3 hours with. Why did her death impact me so much? I have no clue. But I do know that her life impacted me as well. Her story is one like so many young people these days who follow the wrong crowd and wind up making the wrong life changing decisions. The only difference is, her life ended the day she got out of jail. That should have been the beginning of a new journey for her and her daughter, but if you learn one thing from this story, it needs to be that WE ARE NOT PROMISED A TOMORROW. The first 2 Friday nights I saw her, she was very unhappy, angry and hardly spoke. The last Friday night, I actually saw her smile and we had a very short conversation at the end of class about churches. My prayer has been that she made that 1 conscious decision to give her life over to Christ before she took her last breath. I am believing that we will once again see Amber Nicole Shelnut when we all meet again in Heaven one day. I also believe that through her life and death she will touch others as she has touched me.
