August 23rd We start construction on the new dock and do a bunch of cleaning up around and getting things ready for the hunters to show up. That night around the fire the boys are all telling stories (something they are all good at) about old hunts theyve been on and just this type of life in general. Its entertaining and hilarious, these guys have a great sense of humor. I laugh and smile but I think they can tell my concern for my dog is on my mind. Rudy tells me about a dog he lost that showed up 2 weeks later and there other lost dog stories that go around to help me keep my hopes up. And they do. Rudy figures Jewel went back to the culture camp, Im not so sure. That would mean her crossing the Tahltan river on her own. I figured, if anything she would just go back to Hyland Ranch and scrounge around till their crew showed up. August 24 Jordan, Amanda, Rick and I head for Penny camp, couple hrs ride, to get it set up for the hunters. Its a nice ride, mostly uphill, so we get some nice views. We set up camp and come back down the same day. August 25th We get up and finish off the dock and the hunters John and Charlene Jacobs Hattner and another guide Mark show up. Were chilling around the fire when Rudy haulers out my name. I stand up figuring he needs something, hes on the sat phone they got Jewel! Me Awe Jewel! Yeah!........ I cant believe it, my puppy dog is alright :D Rudy she showed up at culture camp On the last day there would have been anyone around there. Im walking towards Rudy as hes telling me, with tears of joy in my eyes. Raina Feldman is the 1st one to come up and give me a big hug. Everyone had smiles or were just stunned. We figured she ran back 30 - 40 km and crossed the Tahltan on her own! Amazing! Rudy was right! She was starving but she was alive and well. I cant even begin to explain the relief. I got my puppy dog back :D I was out there till Sept 10th, so theres lots more to tell. Later ;)
