August 26, 2013 Dear Parents, We wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic first day of school! The children responded to all the teachers and staff like we had never left for summer – it is just amazing how awesome our children are! I heard many former students mentoring new children, which I must say just warmed my heart. We want to thank you again for being so patient this morning with our first day traffic (especially since it was raining!). We appreciate everyone’s willingness to adhere to our traffic patterns and safety protocols. We are always striving to keep our children safe and the guidelines we have developed help us to do just that. Traffic congestion should decrease over the next few days. In the meantime, please be reminded: • To continue to follow the traffic procedures that are attached to this message. • That there are only 3 choices for after school dismissal: bus riders, car riders and the Tiger Den. The Tiger Den is when parents park in the North parking lot and walk up to the building to pick up their children. Please be sure to communicate with your children each day about how they will get home after school. We will remind the children as well. • Remember to put your student name sign in your windshield so that the teachers can notify your child(ren) immediately when you arrive. If you lose the sign or need an additional one, feel free to make one of your own. • If your child forgets an item in their classroom after they have been dismissed, they will not be able to re-enter the building until all students have been dismissed. Other news: Students will be practicing safety drills this week and next week. The drills that the children and staff will be practicing include: Lock downs, Lock outs, tornado, and fire drills. More information about these drills and their purpose will be shared through our upcoming parent coffees. The district SRO (School Resource Officer), Serina Cumberland, will be assisting all of campuses with our safety drills. Thank you again for your continued support! We are honored to serve you!
