August is Senior Wellness Month at College Station Cat Clinic! As our cats get older, they become more susceptible to a variety of diseases. We begin looking at a cat as “senior” when he or she turns 10 years old. After this time, it is more important than ever to schedule bi-annual examinations to keep your cats healthy. These visits include a complete physical examination, including blood pressure, as well as annual senior blood work and urine testing. These tests allow us to analyze the function of vital organs and assess overall health. Even in healthy animals, the laboratory testing gives a baseline to use as a comparison for when our cats are sick or for monitoring subtle changes over time.
