August is over the horizon... Topics to discuss: 1 [Tournaments] Following our 29 August Round Robin, Id like to have two tournaments series. One series will be our locals series. This series will not be intended to invite others from abroad and will either be weekly or bi-weekly. These will more than likely alternate between singles and doubles unless both can be efficiently run on the same day. The other series will be held only once a month and will be intended to invite others from wherever. This will hopefully be more involved. 2 [Meetings] Given that our eventually-official student organization can be expected to have two official meeting days per week, one day will probably be for the previously mentioned weekly tournament. The other day is more than likely going to be for training/ friendlies, only. 3 [Hot Seat] Given the nature of the Hot Seat, this may not be convenient to have during meetings (ethernet being a necessity). Well have to wait a bit to see how that will go, but at the moment, I would like to host the next Hot Seat on the 17th, the day before classes begin for the Fall. The location is not yet known, but it will probably be held at my apartment in Willow Bend or at Mykes at The Grove. If you would like to chair the Hot Seat on this day, this is the post that you must respond to with the explicit post I want to chair the Hot Seat. Those that have not yet chaired the Hot Seat will have precedence over anyone that has already chaired it this summer. 4 [Doubles] This semester will give Doubles more of a presence. A few teams have already been established and I would encourage everyone to find teammates. Already existing teams are The Watchmen, Expressive Punctuation (Usually written as ( : : ) ), Salty Magic, and a team whose name is not yet decided but I really hope chooses to go with Fellatio-Nado. A four-entrant bracket is not terribly exciting, but I know there are plenty of other players here that can form some teams, so lets make the magic happen! 5 [Improving] If you want to schedule a more direct training session with me, either during the friendly meeting day or on any other day, please contact me directly and ask and we can set something up. It may not be as fast as you like, but if youre willing to learn, I can teach you. This is all I have for now, but Im sure Ill add other things later.
