Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the Metropolitan, Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes & Plains, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts. Issued at 10:58 am EST on Tuesday 1 October 2013. A VIGOROUS COLD FRONT WILL BRING DAMAGING WINDS TO SOUTHEASTERN AND CENTRAL NEW SOUTH WALES TODAY Weather Situation Gale force northwest to westerly winds are expected over southeastern and central NSW today ahead of and with the passage of a strong cold front. Damaging winds averaging around 65 km/h with peak gusts of 100 to 110 km/h are forecast for the Sydney Metropolitan, Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Southern Tablelands, Central Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australia Capital Territory forecast districts and are possible for the Central West Slopes & Plains districts. Alpine Peaks will experience winds of 85 km/h with peak gusts around 130 km/h. Winds are expected to ease this evening.
