Australian weather is poorly understood by most of the ecotools - TopicsExpress

Australian weather is poorly understood by most of the ecotools commenting here. Our continent is a land of extremes we swing from droughts and bush fires to floods at the whim of the weather gods. Our climate does not dance to the tune of a few extra CO2 molecules. The BOM has forecast a hot dry summer and since it made that prediction it has been anything but hot and dry for large parts of the country. December so a MJO event deliver quite a bit of rain to North Central and SE Australia. A persistent series of low level troughs and thunderstorms continues thanks to a monsoon trough that has settled over Northern Australia. We are experiencing an other MJO event but not as intense as the first associated monsoon troughs continue to dump rain into the interior these storms if they continue will keep temperatures down in the interior. There is always the possibility of a tropical cyclone developing and indeed a low is forecast to develop off QLD over the next few days as at the same time a low develops over central Australia. We desperately need to break our cyclone drought, cyclone numbers are down and Id love to see an active cyclone season deliver rain to central and southern Australia.
