Keeping you updated on Mountaineering around the world. patfalvey Irelands leading adventure company, Report today Niall Kavanagh Nepal Sadly the death toll has risen to 39 in Nepal....deaths occurred mainly near Throng pass 5416m which is part of the Annapurna circuit trek ( I did this trek in late April reaching Throng pass on 7th May) The deaths occurred due to a severe snow blizzard with people getting trapped on the mountain. This is highly unusual at this time of year but a cyclone in India turned right suddenly heading north right into Nepal Annapurna region. Others lost their lives further north in Mustang due to Avalanche or trapped in tents RIP. It is reported Swiss trekkers managed to get into a cave and survive . Another 19 are still missing maybe buried in the snow. Many are in hospital recovering from frostbite and broken and bruised limbs.
