Awrangzib Hashimi Let Afghanistan have peace and stop continues war! Afghanistan the land of unrest; When it comes to talk about global peace and security, Afghanistan locates in the center of attention, but why Afghanistan? Does war and terror is part of the Afghan culture? Or war is a reason to justify foreigners military presence in Afghanistan? Afghanistan is a peaceable country with a great nation that love coexistence under the shadow of peace as an active and respected member of international community. The country where much of it has been lost over the past thirty years of war, but the war continues, and taking life of many Afghans in the deadly daily bloodshed. Afghans not only taking the risk of deadly bloodshed to bring peace in their country, but to free the world out of terrorism with the campaign of war against terror started by US led operation. Although, the US led forces couldnt bring permanent peace for Afghans, but at least they secured the US and its allies territories by keeping the war ground limited in Afghanistan. The thirty years of war were imposed on Afghans through invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union and the tribal conflicts with the unconditional support of Mujahedeen by some countries that had been seeing its interest on it. Jihadists who claim themselves as the men of God were fully mobilized, supported, and financed with the aid of foreigners to fight against specific ethnics and areas in the name of holy war in order to be supported the engaged Countries interest in Afghanistan’s internal conflicts. But the Jihadists have never thought or havent had the wisdom to realize the fact that fighting against their country was neither Jihad nor had oblation, and Jihad wouldnt be performed with illegal money received to kill innocent Afghan people. After 9/11 the US and the world have realized that Afghanistan which left alone in internal war is now the center of terrorism and threatening the world. However, the terminology of terror and terrorism is an unknown idea to the people of Afghanistan, but the US looked at Afghanistan as the center of evil and safe heaven for Al Qaeda. Although the U.S succeed to dismantle a dictatorship regime in Afghanistan and the people of Afghanistan found the chance to have a democratic government, but there are several issues they failed to fight. The U.S led forces attacked Afghanistan in March 2001 and secured its presence by toppling the ruling Taliban regime, but have not had strong intention to fight the aspects of tribalism, corruption, and women’s right that create public dissatisfaction. The U.S only considered combat role as the only option to end war in Afghanistan, while the country needed political reform, supporting women’s rights, eradicating of corruption, removal of tribalism and forming a public census to bring national unity. Now as we are becoming closer to presidential election in Afghanistan and withdrawal of U.S forces, Afghans are concerns more than any other times about the future of their country, and the person who might lead Afghanistan as the president after 2014! Therefore, Afghanistan is located in the same spot as it has been during 1990 when the U.S put an end on its supports of Mujaheddin and the tribal war began. It is obvious and invisible to everyone that it was the U.S who brought Karzai to power and introduced to Afghans as a trusted President. People of Afghanistan trusted the U.S on Karzai, because people never knew him before. But what has done to Karzai that he escapes of the U.S and changed the course friendship and co-operation more toward to countries like Iran, Russia, China, India... Delay or refuse of the strategic agreement by the Afghan government would be an end toward improvement in Afghanistan and destabilization of the country. Afghan government tends to call for Emergency Loya Jirga (Grand Council) and it is more likely that the participants of the Jirga will not vote to sign the strategic agreement with the U.S. Since the people who will participate are both devotees to government and traditionalists who are against the sign of the agreement at any means. So, there are three ways to prevent efforts binding sign of this bilateral agreement; first the U.S approve on the terms that Afghan government purposes such as removal of U.S soldiers immunization from legal persecution. Second, putting pressure on Afghan government to not call Loya Jirga for now, and let the future government decides as all the Presidential candidates agree to sign this agreement with the U.S. Third, Sign the agreements on the purposed conditions of the Afghan government and revise it later with the consent of the future government. If the U.S fails to do so the government will call Loya Jirga and will put an end on the friendship and co-operation of the Afghan-U.S.
