BACK TO BASICS If indeed you [really] fulfill the royal Law in accordance with the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as [you love] yourself, you do well. But if you show servile regard (prejudice, favoritism) for people, you commit sin and are rebuked and convicted by the Law as violators and offenders. For whosoever keeps the Law [as a] whole but stumbles and offends in one [single instance] has become guilty of [breaking] all of it. - James 2:8-10 (AMP) *Looking back on my Christian life and now that I understand what love truly is, I realised that I needed to press the Spiritual Reset Button and go the basic law of being Christian. The Lord made me see that I havent been loving as I should, truly loving according to His law...Love your neighbour as yourself, this meaning that love others as God loves me. We as Christians tend to get into a routine where we just go with motions of being saved, reading the Word, fellowshiping and just surrounding ourselves with other Christians. We shut those who dont know God out, at times unconsciously, because we are too consumed by prejudice. We have become selective about who we tell about Christ and this is not our mandate as Christians. When I think how many people I have passed by in my daily life because I was too shy, too scared, too busy, too prejudice or too minding my own business to simply tell them that God loves them, I am truly saddened and embarassed at how dismal I have been scoring on my Christian mandated assignment. We are too quick to enjoy the benefits of salvation that we forget that we are on a job to win souls for the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ came to simply teach us how to love others. The basic fundamental of spiritual life is to love others and help others lead a life that is holistically fulfilling. The Word simply just gives us written outlines of how to go about it. Jesus Christ was a simple man, who didnt have much but was not afraid or filled with pride to talk to everyone, rich, poor, male or female, young and old, he told everyone about God and did his best not to leave anyone out. How many people did you tell about Gods love yesterday? How many people did you enlighten about the way, the truth and the life as a Christian? This makes us questions whether we are truly Christian or simply following a trend. Heavenly Father, forgive me. Forgive me for leaving so many of my fellow brothers and sisters behind because I failed to simply inform them about Your love for them. Father, I press the reset button because I know now that I have not being doing my job as a christian and that is to bring Your children back home to You. I press the reset button and go back to basics Father. Teach me to show others love as you show me love. I surrender my all Father. I surrender my pride, my prejudice, my unconscious favouritism of who I tell or dont tell about You. I surrender my shyness, my lack of time and all that draws me away from showing others what You show me every moment of my life. Teach me how to truly love others as You love me. In Jesus Name.
