BACK TO SHEKAU: I dont much care if this Shekau guy is alive or dead. The sociology of the insurgency has so far demonstrated that the demise of its leader would have no long term impact on its sustainability. I dont want a Shekau or anyone dead for that matter. What I want dead are the resources sustaining the insurgency as this is the only way to prevent an escalation of the conflict and the probability of further human losses. If Boko Haram does not receive further financial, munitions, logistics, intelligence and other forms of support, including food, It cannot mutate and become malignant any further. In my book, the euphoria over the probable death of this Shekau is misplaced and BHs attempt to enter a no-death strategy is senseless. As there is no way that rain will fall without the ground hearing, there is ultimately no way Shekaus death can be permanently camouflaged. In routing the extremists at Konduga, a new vista in the crises has been opened and, Shekau or not, by the Konduga victory the internal cohesion as well as the command structure of the insurgents have been severely breached. The spate of surrenders and in-fighting now being reported point to a command failure. This is fatal to the sustainability of any fighting force! Indeed, Nigeria is on the march again...
