BALDRICKS, WILD BOAR & MALCOLM THE BEAST... well be watching out - TopicsExpress

BALDRICKS, WILD BOAR & MALCOLM THE BEAST... well be watching out for em during North Wood Morriss performance at our ceilidh this Friday! Given our mutual namesake, we feel a deep-rooted connection with this very fine morris side. Six dancers with squire, fool, BEAST and musicians to accompany, bedecked in white shirts, green waistcoats, bellpads and yellow and green BALDRICKS - worn across the shirt and derived from the harness once used for carrying a sword - North Woods baldrick bears the badge of an acorn, symbolic of the oak trees predominant in the North Wood to which they and our event name gives homage - a perilous place by all accounts! North Wood Morriss ancient style centres around over 40 dances rooted in the tradition of the cotswolds villages but adapted to please the far more refined tastes of these parts! North Wood Morris have danced at the Royal Albert Hall, London Zoo, Blue Peter, Frank Bruno, Peter Duncan and just this week for visiting Japanese dignitaries at Croydons Hilton! Very excited to be giving them a warm welcome on Friday - weve also got three sets of high-octane ceilidh dancing with Ceilidh Tree (ceilidhtree.co.uk), country band No Coward Soul (ncsoul.tumblr), alt-folk duo The Gillies and fab local deli Beamish & McGlue doing some delicious meat, veggie and gluten free soups / stews along with their wonderful freshly baked bread and cakes. Therell be scrumpy, wine and craft ale on sale. Due to an IT gremlin the earlybird ticket is on sale now til the end of the weekend - details at folkofthewood.co.uk
