BATTLE IN OYO ALAAFIN (Part 4) #People Saying I’m Involved In Oyo Fracas Are Working A Script —Akinlabi# The House Committee chairman of Youth Development, Khamil Akinlabi, has stated that the individuals peddling rumours that he is involved in the ongoing fracas in Oyo town were political opponents bent on assassinating his character. Akinlabi said these while fielding questions from journalists in Oyo town, on Thursday. Debunking the allegation that he had sent his loyalists to burn the cars of Ayo Alaka, a senior lecturer at the Agriculture Education Department of the Federal College of Agriculture (Special), Oyo, he said that the allegations were mere stories sponsored by certain individuals in the town in an effort to distract him from his commitment towards sustainable development in the town. Stressing that the issues were baseless and bore an ulterior motive, he asked why Alaka claimed to have reported to certain highly placed individuals in the town and not to the police immediately the incident occurred. “Arson and murder are two offences that are almost the same. Why would I descend so low as to involve myself in petty politics? They claimed that pieces of bread were soaked in petrol and thrown into the compound, but only two cars were burnt. “They also claimed that the police eventually retrieved the burnt loaves of bread. Yet there is no evidence that I was involved. All these detractors’ allegations are part of a grand plan to discredit me before my people. “The people in Oyo town know where most of the crime in it originates from and we will ensure that such elements are rooted out. Our people will not live in a lawless society and I will not allow these detractors to stop us from moving Oyo town forward.” He pleaded with the citizens of the town and his supporters in general to remain calm, stressing that he was not shaken by any of the allegations
