BE THOU FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH!.. REVELATION 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Faithfulness is one of the requrements that most believers lack. The devil has made it appear in the eyes of many as if its not necessary for one to be faithful, because many believers are not faithful. Not untill we be faithful shall we be faithful even unto death. In this verse the Lord does not merely invite us to be faithful, but to be faithful even in times when faithfuness denands your life that you may be labeled The faithful one. Failure by many spiritual leaders and people of great influence has made all believers think its not a crucial credential for one to have in this walk of faith. Revelation 2:10 is one of the seven letters sent to the seven churches, starting from the churh of Ephesus to the church of Laodicea. The church of Smyna is the church that experienced great persecution as far as the Bible and History are concerned. In as much as the verse applied to the church of Smyna, it also applies unto us. The verse says, ... fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer... This statement clearly shows that indeed in he world there is suffering, the Lord himself knows that we shall suffer. However He says, fear none. This suggest that God knows whats best for us thus he encourage us to fear none. This also suggest that God will walk us through all that the devil has deviced against us. The verse also points out that all that we suffer, all our predicaments are because we are being tested. And so this suggest that the devil is terribly shacking believers so he may know they are firmly rooted on the rock, even Jesus Himself. Many painful challenges, tribulations, and problems we face daily. The devil is shacking us in all different facets of life, however we must fear nothing for he promised to walk us through. We must remember that we are just but being tested. Life becoming so hard for you that at times you doubt if God is still in control, be thou fauthful even unto death because he commanded. For at his command we are safe to die. In a world where bribery has become normal, and those not involved in it are regarded as abnormal. In a world where one has to bribe in order to survive the Lord says be thou faithful unto death because you are being tested. In a world where poverty strikes the faithful for their faithfulness, and the wicked seem to be enjoying at the expence of the faithful be thou faithful even unto death because a life laid down at His cause he shall reward it with life eternal. Not untill we become faithful unto death shall we by the power of God overcome the devil. Relationships, and/or marriage could be stressing you to the extent of being admitted to the hospital, youve just healed, but you are now planning to also start cheating like your partner; the Lord says hang in there, hold on it wont be long before i come, be thou faithful even unto death. He calls us to be faithful unto death so we may escape from the second death. The second death is unspeakably worse than the first death. Whatever that shacks your integrity to the Lord and people arround you, suffer it not to deform and demean your christian character. He says be thou faithful unto death for our suffering is but for a shortime. In the ancient city of Smyrna, the most expensive homes were on the mountainsides that rose above the bay. This gave it the name Crown City. We can appreciate the appropriateness of the promise, be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life...He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death (Revelation 2:10-11). It is apparent that every person from Smyna during that time desired to have these houses, especially those who did not have. They were regardedhayas the most precious gift, then Christ said i will give you the crown of life. Meaning that He would reward us with life eternal, and more supierior than the crown City. Be thou faithful even unto death. Sickness compelling you to diseegard the word of God, Be thou faihful unto death. May the good Lord richly bless us as we meditate upon these words. Amen
