BIG FACEBOOK is WATCHING US: Yesterday I had the most alarming - TopicsExpress

BIG FACEBOOK is WATCHING US: Yesterday I had the most alarming experience with Facebook, which is giving me great pause and trepidation. I already know that almost everything we do on the computer is going into some database somewhere, but this was stunning. I had taken my Dads watch out of the bank lock box to give to my son, his namesake, and was curious about its value before having it cleaned and spiffed up. So I googled the name of the watch and the year my mother gave it to him as a wedding gift. Up popped a few eBay listings and as I scrolled through, I clicked on what I believe to be the very same watch. Later that evening, the very same eBay listing pops up on my Facebook feed as a sponsored ad, not in the sidebar, where other listings have taken me aback from time to time. I love connecting with friends, family, colleagues and breast cancer survivors and advocates here. I love reading about your challenges, successes and the links to stories you find of value, which enlighten me as well. But I must admit, I am rethinking this platform for my personal connections . . . . Anyone else care to weigh in on this . . . .
