BIG SUCCESS!!! As many of you know Aizen is in what we call a community classroom, which is for children with autism and mental disabilities. Its a smaller classroom and there is more 1:1 attention than in a regular classroom. Right now Aizen is completely contained in that classroom and has had no integration with his peer grade 1 class except at recess/lunch. TODAY!! was his first integrated class and he had gym with the regular grade 1s. It went super well and he even made an assist with ball hockey. Im so happy for him. I know he will continue to need a lot of 1:1 support but our goal (and with every child with autism) is for him to be as integrated as possible. This is just 1 small step for him but also 1 HUGE step for him as well. =)
