BLACK HAT VIDEO: BEYER NOW 2-0 AFTER DEFENSIVE STAND IN FINAL MINUTES -- YA GOTTA SEE THESE GREAT TACKLES Beyer High used a defensive stand in the final minute, capped a touchdown-saving tackle from Caleb Saalfeld, in its 20-13 Week 1 victory over Golden Valley. It pushed Beyer’s record to 2-0 under coach Bill Flesher and sets up a key Week 2 matchup with San Joaquin Athletic Association contender Tracy (1-1). Black Hat’s got some great video of Beyer sophomore RB Jay Green busting out some runs – including his TD run – junior Caled Saalfeld scoring Beyer’s 1st TD and making a fumble recovery, and more. We’ve also got what has to be one of the best defensive plays of Week 1: Beyer’s Paul Fagmilia busting through the line to disrupt a sweep and turn it into a 2-yard loss on thid down during that final sequence. A late fumble gave GV (0-2) the ball on the Beyer 12, but the Patriots turned back three attempt scoring plays. On fourth down from that same spot, GV’s QB broke containment in the pocket and tried to score by dashing to the left pylon – but Saalfeld came up from his DB position to drag him down at the 5. And just in case the QB had slipped Saalfeld’s solid tackle, there were a bundle of Patriots ready to make the tackle in front of the end zone.
