BOBBY VAN SCHEME - PEMBROKESHIRE. The scheme which was featured in the last Newsletter is now being administered by Pembrokeshire County Council. The Bobby Van scheme provides free home security for older and vulnerable members of our community. Its purpose is to reduce crime, the fear of crime and to prevent repeated victimisation, particularly among elderly residents in Pembrokeshire. Following research into proven ways to reduce burglary and the fear of crime amongst older residents, the Dyfed-Powys Crime Prevention Trust launched the Bobby Van Scheme in 1999. Since it was launched over 5,000 homes have benefited from the scheme. The Dyfed-Powys Crime Prevention Trust is working together with Dyfed-Powys Police to provide this invaluable service. The force area is among the safest places to live in England and Wales and the Bobby Van Scheme will reduce the risks of burglary even further. pembrokeshire.gov.uk/content.asp?Language=&id=13255#what_is_the_bobby_van_scheme
