Participants must use a car that meets all current rules and building specifications. Why the rule was changed: The previous rule was ambiguous about requiring first time rally champs to race in their local race. The updated rule clarifies that both first and second time rally champs need to race in their local race in order to qualify for the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby Championship race. Rally champs who previously won their local race in the same division are exempt from racing their local.
