BRIEF BIO ABOUT OUR NEW HEALTH MINISTER DR. ABU BACKARR FOFANAH ..... He entered medical school in 1989 and got his first degrees in 1993 before he went on to do a two-year Masters programme in Physiology. In 1995, after he easily bagged his Physiology Masters degree, he came back into the clinical field to graduate as a Medical doctor with an MB.Ch.B degree. Sierra Leones new Health & Sanitation Minister is a well grounded, brilliant doctor who is fully licensed to practise medicine in both Great Britain and Sierra Leone. Our new Minister of Health also has impressive post-graduate credentials. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a member of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom. The new Health Minister Dr. Fofanah also holds another Advanced Diploma in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Berlin, Germany from which institute he further graduated with an Advanced Certificate in Vaccinology. Sierra Leones new Health Minister further holds a Joint European Masters in International Health during which course he majored in Communicable Disease Control and Prevention for developing countries. The new Health Minister is also a highly respected and very popular University lecturer at our alma mater, the College Of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences,University of Sierra Leone which is why he commands huge respect from the younger cadre of medical doctors as he has lectured many of them.
