BRING BACK BLACK MONEY ! MODI VOLTE-FACE WITHIN 5 MONTHS ! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In power Modi discovers virtues in treaties ! The attorney general of the Modi govt ,Mukul Rohtagi urged the Supreme Court not to INSIST on disclosing the identity of Indians who had stashed away black money abroad , echoing the UPA and swallowing the barbs the BJP had hurled at the Manmohan Singh government . Modi government said that public disclosure of the names would affect Indias financial and diplomatic relations with several countries , including the USA . Senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani ( a former BJP man ) , on whose plea the court had set up a special investigation team , termed it as a culprits affidavit Jaitley says , The due process of law has been constraind by DTTA ( double tax avoidance agreement ) which was entered into by India in 1995 . Question arises , were they not aware of the treaty during election campaign ( Even an erudite lawyer like Jaitley didnt know it ! ) ? Is there a bigger hypocrisy which one can come across ? . This is not only a hiatus between what you preach and what you practice , this is sheer dishonesty with the public . They should have the courage to admit that governance and rhetoric are different ball games . One is reminded of V.P. Singh displaying a piece of paper in election meetings saying , Here is a list of Bofors - beneficiaries , and I ll send them to jail as soon as I come to power . When he came to power either that piece of paper was misplaced or there was no room in Indian jails . Also , Nehrus famous statement , .... Ill hang the black marketeers from the nearest lamp post I free India there was either no black marketeer or no lamp post , as one famous critic said
