Baby proofing So Róisín has started to crawl. Not ‘scooting around like a Tasmanian Devil’ crawling, but she gets about a little faster than previous weeks. But this means I have to really think about the environment we live in as shes active and nosy! To be honest, I’m in two minds about the concept of ‘baby proofing.’ Of course I’ll do things like lock the bleach away and finally use this as impetus to sort all those phone charger and extension cables! But I also feel that we all coexist in this world and have to learn to navigate and negotiate it together, perhaps without the myriad of expensive products designed to appeal to our inner fears. I watched a wonderful programme about an Outdoor Nursery in Norway in which 3 year olds were carving boats from wood with knives, lighting fires and climbing 480m mountains. Róisín may not even be able to climb the sofa at the moment, but I’d like her to experience life and adventure without freaking out because I’ve made her worry about the perceived dangers! So I’d love to hear your top tips for living in a safe, yet adventurous environment with a crawling baby. Tell me it’s possible…
