Back in the 1800s, the famous ice merchant Frederic Tudor didnt approve of John Gorries ice-making machine. Tudor said that since he took ice from the top of unsanitary ponds, his ice was natural ice, whereas the ice produced by John Gorries machine was artificial ice.
