Back in the days artist like Prince, Stevie Wonder, Rick James, - TopicsExpress

Back in the days artist like Prince, Stevie Wonder, Rick James, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Smokey Robinson made hit records. Im talking hit after hit after hit. Those guys were truly musicians. They played instruments they respected the craft of making music. Now days these aretist will make an ok song people will call it a hit then you never here from them again. People like Bill Withers and Bobby Womack made music that was timeless. I was once in the studio with Pimp C and as many of you know Pimp C aka Chad Butler was also a producer. I was watching him put some final touches on a song that had a snare and hi hat to it. (I need to upload the clip) Anyway he was playing the hi hat over and over again. I personally could not tell the difference. But it was in watching how meticulous he was that I realized how special he was in the studio. It was at that very moment of watching how intense he was that I realized I was watching a professional at work. He later explained to me how a musical note has no time. It never gets old or dated. A beat will always remain a beat. Its this type of deep understanding that separates the simple beat makers from a true producer. Its that type of intensity that separates a camera man simply shooting a bunch of footage from a filmmaker that is carving a story of life out of the world and using film as a canvas. Im a firm believer that a man has to dedicated his life to his craft if that is what he truly wants to be. I am guilty of dibbling and dabbling in many things and because of that I suffer in certain areas but its because Im forced to dabble. I find myself being more of a business man and salesman than filmmaker on many days. But im forced to. But respect has to be given to those who truly truly work on their craft daily. There is a certain magic when I pull my car up to a master mechanic and he hears it and know exactly whats wrong. I pop the hood look at the engine and sit there totally discombobulated. So I quickly and proudly pay a CERTIFIED professional. Now days too many people want to do too much. People lack focus. And because of that we as a society lack quality. Im a firm believer there is no substitute for quality, and no excuse for lack of it. Dont shop with price as the most important factor or you will lose every time. Shop with quality ranking as most important and it will pay off in the long run. Point is let the CERTIFIED professionals do their job and play their position. Every day somebody is trying to be a rapper or producer and you honestly dont have the ear for it. Focus. Figure out what is your mission, and craft and focus.
