Bag Snatch in Montrose – Thursday, May 22, 2014 Police Scotland is appealing for information after a woman was robbed of her handbag in Montrose at around 1pm on Monday (May 19). The 29-year-old woman was on the walkway between McNab Avenue and Lochside Crescent, when she was approached by a man, who grabbed at her handbag, pulled it from her grasp and ran off, calling on the dog that was with him to follow. The handbag is U-shaped and has black red and white flower designs on it. Within was a purse, a three-figure sum of cash and personal effects. The suspect is six feet tall, slim and speaks with a local accent. At the time he wore a black hooded top with the hood up, blue-coloured jogging bottoms with elasticated ankles and dirty, scruffy white trainers. The dog he had with him is described as a ‘’Pit Bull-type’’, dark brown in colour with a white patch on its breast. It was not on a lead at the time. Anyone who knows who this man is or who has any information that could assist police enquiries should call Police Scotland on 101, or speak to any officer. Information can also be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
