Bama and Ryan were Pole Spear hunting the reef near Walkers Cay in the Bahamas, the spearing was good and they were putting some good quality fish on the boat. In about 45 feet, Ryan made a drop and lined up on a nice Nassau Grouper and took a shot. It was a little further away than he though and hit it towards the rear and the fish went crazy and rocked up. All the activity attracted the men in gray suits so they just waited on the surface for things to calm down. As things calmed down, Bama saw a nice grouper coming in to check out the situation. He had a 100 foot float line attached to the KA spear but no float, so he told Ryan to hold on to the end and made the dive. He could not believe his eyes as he approached a massive free swimming black grouper it kept getting bigger the closer he got. Heart pounding out of his chest he made the final approach slowly the black turned and was getting ready to bolt but he was still over 11 feet away, almost out of breath he let the KA spear fly………. HIT!! It was a good hit and the slip tip deployed perfectly! On his way up to get a much need breath of air, he saw Ryan fly by him like a torpedo being pulled by fish and thankfully the fish rocked up in about 100 yards. Another KA spear with a float line (with a float) was given to Bama, and one more drop a second slip tip found its mark. It took almost 15 additional drops, 45 minutes, and a gaff to get him out of the hole. This fish was HUGE! At the dock it tipped the scales just shy of 65 lbs. A great adventure for sure! CONGRATULATIONS on a fish of a life time! On a side note, both KA Spears survived the Bahamas 65lb stress test and performed flawlessly for the remainder of the trip. Do not bring a wimpy spear to the Bahamas!!! Enjoy the clip, my first edit, so sorry if it turned out a little rough. youtube/watch?v=_9ngbh9Wl34
