"Band of Brothers". That comes from the TV series about the 101st - TopicsExpress

"Band of Brothers". That comes from the TV series about the 101st Airborne during the invasion into Normandy WWII. They were the "greatest generation". Another band of brothers emerged during the Vietnam war. They were the same unit (101st Screaming Eagles, 3/506 Infantry). I was blessed to serve with those brothers. Today I called on those who have maintained contact over the 43 years and petitioned them to pray for Doug Hunter, who we called "Lumpy". They are stepping up along with all of you. Lumpy was our Sergeant along with a couple others. He served three tours in Vietnam. One with the Navy - USS Canberra, heavy cruiser and two with the Army - 101st. He fought at places like Hill 474. If you watched the movie "Hamburger Hill" - that was the unit. He fought at Birmingham firebase, Arsenal, Brick and others. Today he continues his fight with a rare, terminal brain cancer, but he is not a quitter. He was shot several times in Vietnam, was declared 100% disabled and could have collected a check the rest of his life, but instead elected to work. He worked up to the couple weeks ago when he became incapacitated. His spirit, passion and zeal are of a greater generation. He is my hero and friend and what a blessing it was to serve alongside him as a brother. Doug and the men we served with are still the band of brothers today. Please keep him and these men in your prayers. Please also pray for the few WWII heroes who made a difference in our world for good. We are losing so many each day. If you get a chance to thank a WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Somalia, Bosnia, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Iraqi Freedom or Afghanistan Veteran or any Veteran who served, do so and welcome them home. May God bless and have mercy and grace on all.
