Basically, weve tried to do them every 5 years, alternating casual events and the more formal. 5 year was a picnic, 10 at the Mandalay, 15th at a bar, 20th at Holiday Inn Holidome, 25th at Heatherwood Clubhouse and 30th at Crown Plaza (Downtown). The 25th was kindof a break, since it was our casual year, but we got dressed up anyway. The 20th was a blow out with activities planned all weekend and our highest attendance to date. The first one I did (20th) was held on a random fall weekend. Based on input from our class, avoiding holidays was important (at that time) because of demands with many of our kids. SO, now were older (but definitely better) and things may have changed. Our 35th should be sometime in 2016, and it is time for a more casual event. We have some time, so lets use this forum to discuss it. What time of year works best? Is it our goal to get dressed up or is just being together whats important? Personally, Im a fan of hotel-based events, because many of us no longer have family in the area and need a place to stay anyway. Even though I am local, I got a room because it allowed me a lot of fun, casual interactions that just dont happen during the event, and this was what was important to me. Also, let me say right now that I do not know where I will be in two years or what my life may hold. As many of you are aware, I have been in a personal transition for the past few years since Kevin died. My kids are living their own lives. I sold our business last year and am considering selling my house in the next year, so that I will have the freedom to pursue whatever makes me happiest. I AM good at event planning and know this group and the Dayton venues. I am certainly willing to advise or to help put something together, but I wont want to take on the bulk of the project as I did with the 30th. We will need a team of people who are willing to step up so.....WHOS IN?????
