#Batman #Turkey #Kurds #Syria #Islamists #IS #Rojava #YPG #YPJ Can`t confirm this independently - the source are several twitter posts from people who are normally trustworthy. All these posts suggest that the Issue of Kobane and the failing peace talks in Turkey between PKK and the Government have led to a large Kurdish uprising - if this will continue in the upcoming days it could get very serious: In the city of Batman thousands of Kurds are on the street in support of Kobane/Syria. Reports indicate that the police started a heavy crackdown on them - and that Turkish Islamists sided with the police and attacked protesters with batons. There are even reports - yet again I can`t verify this - that shots where fired towards the Kurdish protesters. The same is emerging in Bingöl City - photos appeared on social media depicting hardcore Islamists (in regard of their clothing and flags), carrying batons and preparing to attack a Kurdish protest in the city. Another colleague had to flee, in a village near the Syrian border, into a Mosque after Turkish Police and Military raided the city, dispersing Kurdish youth activists who tried to get close to the border. They fired teargas at everybody who was on the streets. In Sultangazi/Istanbul Police forces protected a large crowed of Pro-Islamist protesters who directly attacked a Pro-Kurdish protest. This was posted via social media with photos and videos. At several other points at the Syrian-Turkish border (source photos by Turkish and Kurdish Journalists) again thousands of protesters tried to tear down the border fences and get to Kobane in support of the struggle against IS. Police reacted with teargas. At the same time the massive build-up of Turkish forces along the border area of Kobane is going on - but even after the NATO announced that they will support Turkey if they get attacked (several IS shells hit already Turkish areas, wounding several people) or if they try to push IS out of Kobane - they are still watching a massacre unfolding. In Kobane estimates of 1.500 Kurdish civilians who are trapped are surfacing. This can`t be independently be verified. The SOHR estimates that since mid-September already up to 500 people (mostly fighters of IS and the Kurdish militias) got killed during the battle for Kobane. But they estimate that the numbers are actually twice as high. Several civilians as well as Kurdish female fighters got beheaded by IS and their heads openly displayed by them. Additional Update: Images from Van are emerging, showing heavy street fightings between Kurdish protesters and police forces. A statue of Ataturk was set ablaze by the enraged Kurds.
