Battle of Bothwell 2014 Overall Winner: Nick Daley (D grade), 2nd Campbell Flakemore (A grade), 3rd Mitch Gittus (D grade), 4th Phil Zakaria (C grade), 5th Josh Gittus (C grade). Grade winners: A grade: Campbell Flakemore, B grade: Cuan van Staden, C grade: Phil Zakaria, D grade: Nick Daley, E grade: Steve Hart, F grade Paul Bannerman. Great weather and a friendly reception again greeted us in Bothwell. We are becoming accustomed to this. As expected, the time trial was dominated by Campbell Flakemore who gave a champions turn by setting a 46.3 km/hr average for the 26km Hollowtree Rd course. This again sets Campbell at the top of the STCC HOF for this route by almost 2km/hr! The road race was an interesting affair with A grade starting 29 min behind F grade on the 55km undulating course. Although Campbell Flakemore, Nathan Earle and Gerald Evans chewed up the field, they were just unable to pull in Nick Daley who had a great ride to keep A grade at bay (24sec). Mitch Gittus also drew attention by cheeky sprint to the line up against Campbell. We will continue to watch Mitch’s progress with interest.
