Because Im not allowed to name names in a certain public forum, for all you interested sayville peeps, there are nine candidates in the running for the empty BOE seat. This list of names - which actually is public information - was not posted on the district website and had to be obtained by FOIL. Note that it is an appointment by the remaining board members, not a public election. (Think what you will of all THAT.) Take further notice that almost half these candidates may have some conflict of interest as they are enmeshed with other boards and school districts. In plain talk, they are people who would most likely be backed by the union and may not necessarily have the average taxpayers interests at heart. If anyone is interested in this or the $22 million bond that is being discussed, please come to the BOE meeting this Thursday night Sept 11 at 8 pm in the administration office.
